AMANDA CARMICHAEL
Singer | soprano

BIO

Amanda Carmichael, soprano, is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Mobile, AL. She earned her MA at the University of York in York, England, where her pathway was Vocal Studies. She attended the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany in 2017 and worked with artists such as Michael Straum and Barbara Bonney. Amanda has performed in roles such as Susanna, from “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Le Feu, from “L’enfant et les Sortilegés,” and Despina from the “The Three Little Pigs.” Additionally, she has performed in concerts with vocalists such as Ailish Tynan and Dame Janet Baker and was a member of vocal ensembles performing throughout the UK. When in Birmingham, she enjoys partaking in Opera Birmingham’s musical events.

Between her undergraduate and graduate programs, Amanda underwent simultaneous below-knee amputations. These amputations were elective in an effort to live a life pain free following years of chronic pain and medical interventions caused by clubbed feet. During her recovery season, she started a lucrative private-lessons music studio teaching voice and piano, engaged nationally in motivational speaking, and wrote a book called Standing Tall.

Her hard efforts have paid off as she enjoys a life almost completely void of pain and strives to be the best performer in pink, sparkly legs as she possibly can!
